What is a Data Sharing Tool?
A data sharing tool enables companies to share secure, real-time data with their community. This allows teams to address a wide range of critical business problems, such as breaking down silos, speeding project completion, encouraging collaboration with data transparency, and uncovering new insights.
Enterprise IT applications are expanding and robust solutions for real-time data exchange have become essential for achieving business goals. From the behaviour of visitors to the data from IoT devices in your office or power plant, the amount of data is growing exponentially and is generating an equally huge number of data integrations.
Many of these integrations have been driven by the desire to enhance efficiency, analytics and revenue streams. The primary challenge is moving huge amounts of data from source to destination on a large scale without sacrificing their value. The traditional approaches, such as SFTP and pre-signed URLs for objects, and data movement through ETL processes, aren’t scalable to the amount of data required and can only be applied to a single solution from a single vendor (e.g., Oracle, AWS Redshift, Snowflake).
There are a variety of solutions that can help address the challenges of sharing real-time data. In particular, a class of platforms that understand the data they carry and act as a trusted intermediary between applications can solve a lot of these issues. This shifts the responsibility of managing data flows to the platform provider. It can accelerate and simplify data integration by eliminating many of the complicated Retry and Re-Transmission features that are standard in traditional tools.
